Sales Pressure Creates Bad Life Insurance Choices

Have you ever thought about how most companies and agents go about selling life insurance? Do they really do it in a way that helps you make better, wiser choices?

I’m going to guess that hasn’t been your experience. But shouldn’t that be their goal? Shouldn’t companies who deal with life insurance information just make it easier for you to make a better decision? Unfortunately, that’s not what we see most of the time.

Life insurance sales pressure is everywhere, we hardly think about it. When I go on a popular website to enter to win a house, I get a popup ad from a competitor who wants to harvest my information and sell it to a bunch of life insurance agents who don’t know enough about me. When I go to the mail, I get offers, even warnings, from banks and life insurance agents telling me I need to sign up for products they sell. It’s even in my inbox as I browse through my emails for the day.

The thing is, none of that is helpful.

What would really be great is if you could answer questions one time and have a bunch of real agents compete for your business anonymously. Then if you saw something, you could get in contact with them. Oh, right. That already exists here.

The Life Insurance Quote Game

It’s like life insurance marketers want us to play The Clock Game when we just want a great deal. Not familiar with The Clock Game? It’s the game on The Price is Right where you have to guess the price of a few items within 60 seconds. Each time you guess wrong, Drew Carey tells you either “higher” or “lower.”

My wife loves to watch The Price is Right when she can, so I know something about the games. Besides learning a lot about scooters and power chairs, I like to strategize about the most statistically optimal strategy to each game.

It’s not really that hard of a game. What makes it hard is the time requirement. Correction. What makes it hard is the giant ticking clock creating pressure, forcing bad decisions. Routinely, someone will go in the opposite direction of what Drew says or the contestant will guess a range of prices that makes no sense to their objective.

Make smarter choices

When it comes time to get your life insurance quotes, don’t play The Clock Game. Don’t let the sales pressure from multiple agents confuse you with what you really need. Don’t settle on the first choice that sounds good because the agent or website seems trustworthy. Get life insurance quotes from multiple agents competing against each other but without the sales pressure.

Get rid of the pressure and stress of making a bad decision. That way, you can focus on making a better, wiser life insurance choice. Go ahead and see how clearly better finding life insurance can be for you.
